01 — About

Build calmly. Ship thoughtfully.

I spend most of my time on systems that have to stay up: content platforms, subscription products, and the packages underneath them. At Macareux Digital I lead client delivery on Concrete CMS — core contributions, marketplace add-ons, SSO, and payment integrations for brands such as Rakuten, NTT Docomo, and Daily Portalz. Earlier I designed iOS app interfaces and built REST APIs at product studios in Tokyo and Dhaka. I like leaving a codebase easier to change than I found it.

  1. Sep 2016 – Present

    Senior Engineer (Full Stack)

    Macareux Digital Inc. · formerly concrete5 Japan Inc.

    Lead engineer for Concrete CMS client delivery: reusable packages, site upgrades, payments, SSO, and intranet apps for Japanese brands.

    • Translate client requirements into Concrete CMS packages, upgrades, and intranet applications, working with a team lead on scope and delivery.
    • Upgrade and operate Concrete CMS sites and servers on AWS, including security patches and production diagnostics.
    • Contribute to Concrete CMS core and maintain internal and marketplace packages for payments, SSO, forms, and import/export.
    • Integrate billing and identity services — Stripe, Amazon Pay, Pay.jp, Okta, SAML, and Azure AD — into editorial sites.
    • Build REST APIs and WebViews that sit behind iOS and Android clients, including healthcare and subscription products.
    • Run marketing automation with Mautic and keep internal tools such as the support desk and LDAP intranet in good health.

    Full Stack Web Developer

    Short contract to rebuild a used-car dealer site on FuelPHP, covering front end, back end, and SEO.

    • Rebuild the dealer catalogue and enquiry flows on FuelPHP with a Bootstrap 3 front end.
    • Fix inherited bugs and tighten page templates for crawlability and sharing.
    • Review the existing stack, then migrate templates and business logic without a long freeze.

  3. Jan 2016 – Feb 2016

    Software Engineer / Web Developer

    Beatone Inc.

    CakePHP APIs and WebViews for iOS and Android products, plus QA and a small team.

    • Turn feature specs into data models and REST endpoints for smartphone apps.
    • Implement in-app WebViews and marketing pages from wireframes.
    • Coordinate a small team through build, QA, and release for Video Downloader and OpenBag.

  4. Feb 2015 – Jan 2016

    Software Engineer / Web Developer

    AIRCAST Corp.

    Lead CakePHP engineer for consumer smartphone products: APIs, WebViews, and the public site.

    • Write SRS notes, model data, and design REST APIs consumed by iOS and Android clients.
    • Build WebViews and campaign sites that wrap those APIs.
    • Make targeted changes in a legacy Perl system without a full rewrite.
    • Maintain internal PHP tools and keep an eye on application traffic.

  5. Jan 2014 – Jan 2015

    Senior Web Developer

    SmartMux Limited

    Team lead for CakePHP APIs, admin panels, and publisher, hotel, and music products.

    • Lead a small team from spec through API, WebView, and admin UI.
    • Own data modeling and MySQL schema for new mobile products.
    • Build REST APIs and WebViews for iOS and Android, plus the PHP admin that publishers used.
    • Configure Apache, MySQL, FTP, and mail for project environments.

  6. Aug 2011 – Dec 2013

    Designed iOS and Android app interfaces and the sites around them; also ran hosting and the office network.

    • Design GUI, iconography, and interaction flow for iOS and Android applications in Photoshop and Illustrator.
    • Build support and marketing sites for each App Store listing.
    • Manage domains, shared hosting, and the office MikroTik/Wi-Fi network.
    • Contribute Objective-C in Xcode when a screen needed more than a static design.

    First professional role: internal PHP tools, Linux services, and CRM/network administration.

    • Build small internal web apps in PHP, HTML, and CSS.
    • Configure Apache, MySQL, FTP, and mail on Linux.
